I worked in conjunction with designer Kim Bernard, Oakpark, California to create this space from slab to finished product. Cabinets were created to have an old world appeal with frosted leaded glass uppers to hide various bath & cosmetic items. Venetian Plaster is the wall finish throughout. Tasseled-drawn bronze silk window treatments hide Silhouettes behind that operate on a remote.
This
downstairs bath serves both as the powder room and ‘her’ bath.
As is evident, my client loves color, which follows in suit with her colorful
and fun personality. The prior bath was very plain jane with 80’s
plywood cabinets and 4” tiles in the shower and on the sink counter.
This is my powder room, designed years ago, before chests were typically used as sink cabinets. I mixed unusual materials together for an eclectic appeal: putting frosted glass tile atop an antique sugar pine cabinet, a contemporary wall faucet next to old rusted candle holders, and pulled in a few accessories that made me happy.
This
is my master bathroom. One cannot fully appreciate it until they see the
prior picture of it in “before and after”. The very first
thing I did after escrow closed was to take a sledge hammer and knock
through the wall of the existing shower to see how much room was behind
for expansion purposes.
Please

this site to see how this sink cabinet came into being.
Greene Residence, Newbury Park, California
This
was a very small, traditional master bathroom that needed major renovation.
The owners wanted a large shower (seen behind the archway) with a rain
shower head and alternative hand showers. Also required were a spa tub,
two separate sink cabinets, a toilet and linen closet. Mission accomplished!
Design
House 2000, Camarillo, California The owners did not want any structural changes, therefore, only cosmetic additions changed this powder from boring to pretty inviting. Our faux artist accentuated the curved back wall with a suede violet suedefinish in the water closet area, and a talented quilt artist (Eileen Alber of Artistic Quilters Studio in Newbury Park) fabricated this magnificent fabric mural. Other parts of the wall surface in the sink area were Venetian plaster. I augmented this plain bathroom Pullman with lighting under each tier of the Pullman apron to give it more architectural definition. Needed accessories provided the final touches to this otherwise boring powder room.
Nikkhah Residence, Irvine, California
Due
to the unusual wall angles where the pedlav was positioned in this powder,
the client asked me to design a built-in Pullman to replace it. I chose
a very thick piece of flashed granite from my fabricator’s bone
yard for counter and apron, disguising the under-mounted sink and plumbing
below. The wrought iron base (not seen) holds a glass shelf for accessories
and TP storage.
Carmichael Residence, Westlake, California
When these clients added 15’ onto their house, it doubled their master bathroom. This is a shot of their new shower where the stonework is easily seen through the seamless glass door
